Hancy Guesthouse

The noise insulation was very poor. You could hear people coming and going, their footsteps and conversations in the hall, and especially the electric toilet flushing. It was extremely loud, and the bathroom wall doesn’t reach the ceiling. The Wi-Fi also dropped out now and then. They accepted cash or wire transfers only, with a handwritten receipt that wasn’t signed or attributed to the Guesthouse. The owners were polite and attentive, but lived at the end of the hallway, which sometimes made it feel like I had less than full privacy. On the second day, one of them knocked and then unlocked my door at 10am while I was still asleep. It wasn’t for housekeeping, and it was bizarre. They also wouldn’t let me leave my suitcase there temporarily after checkout. Since I chose Hancy Guesthouse based on the positive reviews, I was surprised by these issues. I didn’t feel fully comfortable and wouldn’t stay again. The room was clean and well equipped with its own kitchen, complimentary snacks, air conditioning, a TV, and a wardrobe. It didn’t have toiletries, a hairdryer, or an ironing board. After I posted this review, the Guesthouse owners emailed me a lengthy message. It was disappointing that management responded to criticism by belittling a customer’s opinions instead of showing respect and professionalism.

Marie and her husband were warm and welcoming, and gave us lots of useful information about what to do nearby. The room was nice, in a fairly central location.

The rooms were clean, as were the kitchenette and bathroom. Our hosts were kind, welcoming, and full of useful information. The location is central.

The room was clean and had everything I needed, and the hosts were wonderful. I’d definitely stay again!
