Best Western Hotel d'Arc

The mini fridge in my room wasn't working, the sink wouldn't drain properly, and the shower was a little small. Even so, the positives won out: the room was clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the old hotel has plenty of charm and has had lots of upgrades. It's right across from the train station and next to the station mall, with a great Carrefour. I skipped breakfast and ate nearby to save money.

The staff made this stay, especially Victoria (spelling), who welcomed us and called the restaurant where we'd booked dinner to let them know we were running late. The room was excellent for the price, with a large bed and a nice bathroom, including a big shower with good water pressure. The hotel is near the train station and a short walk from the sights. There isn't hotel parking, but they have an arrangement with the Mediatheque public garage, about 500 meters away. Park there normally, then get a card from the hotel to exit.

My personal computer and charging cable were taken from my backpack while we were out. We stayed one night, Saturday to Sunday in June 2024, and only realized what had happened after leaving Orléans and reaching Paris, when I opened the bag. I called reception three times, but they only gave me an email address. I wrote to them, and after two full working days there was still no response or support. Someone had entered our room, opened my backpack and taken the computer and cable while we were out for dinner and breakfast. We chose this hotel for its four-star rating and because Expedia said it had parking. In fact, there is no hotel parking, and reception sent us to a city parking facility that we had to pay for ourselves. The rating seems overstated: the hotel is old and needs renovation. Our first standard room had no soap and a clogged shower drain, so we asked to move and were given the room next door. Both rooms had air conditioning that didn't work at all. The standard rooms are very small, and the coffee machine in the lobby was broken. We wanted to rest after a long day, but it wasn't comfortable at all, and then our things were stolen.

The bathroom was tiny, but its design made good use of the space. Wi-Fi is free, though terribly slow. The room itself was spacious, with a comfortable bed, and breakfast was great. The receptionist and breakfast lady were both friendly and helpful. It's a lovely hotel, and the antique lift is stunning.
