Hostellerie des Châteaux & Spa

My family and I stayed at Hostellerie des Château & Spa from June 2 to 5, 2025. Coming all the way from Far East Asia to a quiet little village in Alsace was quite an adventure, about 10,000 km from home, but the staff made us feel completely at home. We loved relaxing in the spa, and each evening’s French dinner was delicious and memorable. A huge thank you to the hotel manager and everyone on the team for going out of their way to make our stay so wonderful.

I’d suggest reading this before booking. I reserved one night at this hotel through Booking.com, then immediately realized I’d picked the wrong place. I contacted Booking.com straight away, and they agreed to refund me. The hotel wouldn’t do the same, even after we explained we were on the other side of France and couldn’t stay. They offered a different night, but we were tourists leaving the country in a few days, so that didn’t work for us. It was an honest mistake, and we told them right away, so I don’t think they lost any potential customers. They had rooms available that night too, so ours wasn’t the last one. I don’t consider this ethical business practice, and I personally wouldn’t want to do business with a place that handles things this way. I wouldn’t recommend the hotel.

We accidentally booked this hotel while looking at another with a very similar name. We contacted them immediately to explain it was a genuine mistake, not a change of mind. They showed little understanding and weren’t willing to help. We weren’t nearby and had no plans to be, so changing to another date wasn’t an option. We tried explaining several times, but the staff seemed to disregard the situation and took advantage of the error. DO NOT BOOK. They’ll take advantage of you however they want. I definitely wouldn’t book with them if I return to France. AVOID IF POSSIBLE. THERE ARE MUCH NICER OPTIONS.

My husband and I chose Hostellerie des Chateaux for my birthday and had an amazing time. Our room looked out over the village and the horizon. We paid extra for a bouquet and cake, which they arranged to make the occasion special. The breakfast service was great, and dinner service especially stood out. The staff paid such close attention and made us feel welcome. The food deserves a mention too: each day brought a four or five course meal, with simple and more complex flavors that all worked beautifully together. They kindly accommodated my request to make a few dishes vegetarian. We also made the most of the spa, with its many sauna rooms, hamama, and heated indoor pools with dynamic waterjets. We left the weekend feeling relaxed and hope to make this an annual ritual.
