The room was warm despite our February visit, and the bed, shower, and polite reception staff were all good. We also woke to a beautiful sunrise over the view to the east. The pillows were much too big, though. What really spoiled things was the lack of a kettle. We had to get tea and coffee in the canteen for €4 each, served in plastic cups even though porcelain ones were sitting there. It was hard to find a clean table, too. That left me in a bad mood, especially with breakfast apparently costing €16 per person.

We left before the desserts we’d ordered ever arrived, which I don’t think I’ve done before. The food itself was good, but the service took so long that keeping the kids occupied between courses became impossible. I’d strongly advise against dining here with children. We weren’t charged for the desserts that never came, at least, so service gets one star rather than none. The place was stiflingly hot, though the location deserves five stars, maybe six. Food gets four, since we never tasted dessert.

There wasn’t WiFi for our whole trip, and with no TV either, that made for a pretty brutal stay. The room was bare bones, without even a hairdryer. I had to ask for one and leave a deposit. The receptionist told us it was a place for contemplation. I’m sure people attending all those business conferences aren’t necessarily there to find spiritual clarity. The setting may be stunning, but as a working hotel it left me very unimpressed.

The restaurant is excellent, and the place itself is so peaceful and inspiring. A lovely spot to unwind, take in the views, and clear your head.

The coffee from the kiosk outside, by the ATM, tasted awful, and the cup folded in on itself after a few sips. Coffee spilled all over me. I told the server, who quickly brought me a towel and offered another coffee for free. Fair of him, but that was the first free cup I’ve ever turned down.
