Charming duplex in Montmartre

The location was fantastic, close to nice bars and restaurants and near the Sacré-Cœur. Evenings there had a great atmosphere, and the view over Paris from above was lovely. Email communication was excellent, and finding the apartment and key in the key box was easy. It mostly matched the description and had good equipment, though it was very small. Still, we probably wouldn't rent it again and can't recommend it. The place needs work. The bed was too narrow for two, around 120 cm wide, and the worn mattress needs replacing. The linens were wrinkled and smelled unpleasant, possibly because they'd been put on damp. The previous guests' laundry was still in the machine, and the dryer didn't work, leaving the linens wet. More than two sets of bedding would make sense for rentals. The shower-head rail kept coming loose, so the head couldn't be raised. There were other maintenance problems too: the apartment needs fresh paint, the shelves on the stairs, in the kitchen, and in the bedroom were badly worn, and some walls had stains. The kitchen blinds were broken and dirty. Some outlets didn't work, and the bedside bulb was broken. The narrow spiral stairs aren't suitable for larger people or anyone with mobility problems, especially for nighttime bathroom trips. The garbage cans and concrete courtyard could also use improvement, perhaps with potted plants. It's a shame, because the location really is so good.

The bed was very comfortable, and the apartment was clean. I stayed one short night in Montmartre, with shops just a quick trip away.

Pierre was very helpful to guests. I had a pleasant one-night stay in a well-located Montmartre apartment.
