Hipotel Paris Gambetta Republique

The staff were friendly, and the hotel is conveniently close to a bus stop. It was a really good place for the affordable price, with a great view too.

For a night or so, this is a decent and very affordable hotel for the location. The receptionist was friendly and spoke English well, and the room was fairly clean. The hairdryer didn’t work, but aside from that it was good, even though there’s room for improvement. It’s not nearly as bad as some reviews say.

We found insects in our room that we suspected might be bedbugs or cockroaches, and reported them to the front desk immediately. Staff sprayed insecticide, but said they couldn’t move us because the hotel was full. We had booked five nights. During the first four, our bedsheets were never changed. After we complained, staff said they would replace them on the last night, but when we checked again, the sheet near the mattress was extremely dirty. We decided to leave a night early and asked to cancel and refund that final night. The front desk refused and offered a room change instead, which contradicted what they had said earlier about having no rooms available. We felt misled, and that our concerns weren’t taken seriously as staff kept avoiding responsibility. My travel companion and I both had skin irritation during the stay, which caused physical discomfort and stress. The hotel fell short of basic hygiene and accommodation standards and seriously affected our trip and health.

The hotel is in a great spot, just a couple of minutes from Gambetta station, with lots of food options nearby. Right next door there’s a lovely Brasserie serving food, coffee, and alcoholic drinks. The price was fairly affordable for central Paris, and I recommend it. I stayed twice, and the front desk staff were very friendly. The room was comfortable and clean.
