Hotel Agora

The internet connection was awful, and the air conditioning wasn't working while we were there. Leaving the window open didn't help because of the noise nearby. The doors are so close that when someone in the next room opens or shuts theirs, you might think someone's opening yours. The rooms are extremely small, including the bathroom, and after an hour the lack of space gets on your nerves. The hotel is missing some very basic things you'd expect even in a two-star place. I don't recommend it.

The one good thing was that the room was clean. Otherwise, the rooms were tiny, the furniture very old, the walls paper thin, and the shower dangerously slippery. The price and being close to the Louvre might be tempting, but you're giving up comfort. When I told the staff I planned to check out early, they were very rude. The manager said, "we are running a business," so don't expect them to care about your comfort. I don't recommend it.

We had planned on five nights, but the room was so small that we couldn't enjoy our stay. We had to shift furniture just to open our suitcases, and even then it felt hazardous to move around. The hotel says it has an elevator, but it starts on the second floor, so be ready to carry your luggage up a flight of stairs. It barely fits a suitcase anyway. We ended up canceling our reservation.

The location is hard to beat, with a supermarket right outside and restaurants, bars, a shopping mall, and plenty of other things nearby. The staff were nice, too. We were first given a tiny room, but after we complained they moved us to one that was much bigger and better. It could have been cleaner, though, and the elevator is incredibly small. You also have to climb a few steps with your luggage before you reach it. There's a metro station across the street, but be careful there and keep your money tucked away, since people may rob you if they get the chance.
