Hotel de Nesle

We could walk everywhere from this excellent location, and the hotel is close to the Louvre Museum and lots of other attractions. Everyone at reception was sweet, and the owner was attentive and helped us a lot. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and our room was cleaned every day. We chose a room with a shared toilet, and it was quite small. Apart from that, everything was great. Thanks for everything. I’ll definitely recommend this place.

I had a small private terrace in my room, and the place was simple, nice, and clean. There’s no breakfast, but plenty of places to eat nearby, and the staff were very friendly. It’s a charming little bohemian-style hotel on a quiet side street just off Pont Neuf and rue Dauphine. I stayed here in the 1980s, when Mme Nesle still ran it herself. Her grandchild owns it now. It’s been renovated to a much better standard, while keeping its odd charm and oriental decorations. There’s still no television in the room. Coming back almost 40 years later to spend a Saturday night here again was a lovely experience.

Room 13 might be haunted, which only makes the place more fun. Every room is unique, painted lovingly by the husband of the hotel’s former owner. I even got a free upgrade. The staff are so sweet and memorable, and this is easily my favourite hotel in Paris. It’s quirky and authentic, in a beautiful, quiet district. There are great restaurants, bakeries, and authentic Japanese cuisines nearby, including a boba tea shop and a Michelin starred ramen place I got to try before it was discovered. Cross the bridge and you’re at the Louvre and a huge shopping street. Hotel de Nesle is a magical part of every Paris trip for me. I’ll always stay here, and can’t imagine Paris without it.

The room was cosy and clean, but the decor was very old, and there was no air conditioning or central heating. We had a room under the roof on the fifth floor, the sixth for Americans, with no elevator. To use the toilet, you have to cross the staircase, which can be risky after a bit of French wine. The location in the city center is perfect, and the staff are very friendly. We enjoyed our stay, but keep in mind this isn’t a four-star hotel. It’s more like an “Allo Allo” version of one.
