Hôtel du Parc

The bed was very comfortable, and the hotel was fine apart from the check-in issue. It’s in a handy spot just around the corner from Gare Montparnasse. The rooms are very small, though. The information said check-in was possible at 14:00, but when I arrived shortly after that, I was told my room wasn’t ready and wouldn’t be for at least another hour. That was really annoying because I’d planned my day around it.

The staff really came through when our return flight was cancelled at the last minute and delayed by two days. They helped arrange rooms for us to stay, and we had booked two. Their help with our bags at arrival and departure was appreciated too, since there’s a flight of stairs up to reception. My wife and I both have leg and ankle issues, but managed. We knew about the stairs beforehand, and it wouldn’t put me off returning. We were glad to include breakfast rather than find somewhere to eat every day. It was delicious, though I’d have liked a bit more day-to-day variety. Our room stayed cool during a week of 90-degree temperatures thanks to the AC. Just be aware it seems to switch off when you’re out, so the room can be warm when you get back in summer. The hotel is in a lively neighborhood with great restaurants right on the doorstep. I think we ate at nearly all of them. There’s public transport close by, and most major attractions were about a 20-minute ride away, except Disney and Versailles. Around the corner, there was a large outdoor market on most days, with food, art, clothes, and all sorts of other things. The rooms were clean and comfortable, if a little small, which seemed normal for Paris and wasn’t a surprise after reading reviews. One thing to improve: the do not disturb signs were ignored. We don’t need the room tidied every day, but staff still came in to make the bed and change towels on days we left the sign out. Please pay attention to those signs. Even with that, it was an amazing stay, and I wouldn’t look elsewhere when I return to Paris.

Clean, comfortable rooms in a great location. This place is good value and convenient if you mainly need somewhere to sleep between days out exploring Paris. It’s not the kind of hotel you book for a luxury resort stay where you’ll spend all your time indoors.

Anna was so lovely to work with, and the service made the place feel like home. It’s also in a pretty good spot, close to several metro stations.
