Hotel La Perle Montparnasse

The sheets had some dirt on them. I don’t even want to guess what it was. The internet was unreliable too, with the main connection cutting in and out. I stayed three nights. After the first evening, the noise from other rooms made us want to check out. There’s no soundproofing at all; it feels like you’re sharing a room with the other guests. I told reception, but they didn’t warn the other guests. I was told the boss wouldn’t approve a refund. The manager was a very sweet and nice person. They moved us to a different room and offered breakfast, which eased our stress. The noisy guests weren’t in that first room, but we could still hear people in the next room easily. I woke up about five times in that room. I usually sleep like a dog, believe me.

For anyone on a budget who wants a comfortable place to sleep with a private bathroom, I’d recommend it. The location was nice, about five minutes from Gare Montparnasse, which can get you pretty much anywhere, and there are nice restaurants and markets within more than five minutes. Staff were friendly, offered us water at the desk, and happily held our luggage after checkout. The room and bathroom were small, but clean and well maintained, and the AC worked great. This is 100% the best you can get FOR THE PRICE. It’s not a luxury hotel, and you shouldn’t expect to hang out in the room. Some of the negative reviews seem to expect a luxury stay for a long time, but that’s not what this is.

The staff were very friendly, and breakfast was good, though simple. There are grocery stores nearby, and it’s close to some subway stations. The room had enough space for three people, with a comfortable bed, cozy linens, and a heater that worked just fine. The bathroom is small, and the shower might feel claustrophobic for taller or bigger people. Sound insulation is very poor, so you can hear people getting up and talking. The WiFi was also so weak that it often didn’t work properly. Like most Paris buildings, there’s no lift, so be ready to carry your luggage up the stairs.

The sound insulation is terrible. You can hear everything happening in rooms on the same floor and even beyond it. My window opened onto a vertical shaft with no fresh air, and the room had no air or sunlight. The staff were unpleasant and even RUDE. I had an 8h30 video meeting in the morning, so I went to the lobby because the rooms are poorly insulated. A staff member working the morning of 27/06, whose name I wasn’t given, tried to stop me. He was loud, turned on the TV, and was very impolite. I’ve never seen hotel staff behave like that in Paris. I don’t recommend this hotel because of the awful service.
