Moxy Paris La Villette Hotel

The location worked well for a business trip, with an office area nearby, restaurants across the street, and a train station right next to the hotel. Reaching the city’s main area takes under 30 minutes, and the airport ride was about 30 minutes with traffic. Breakfast croissants and butter coffee were great. WiFi was good, and there was workspace on the first and basement floors. The room was cozy and fine for a shorter stay. It had a bathtub, though it looked a bit old and I didn’t want to use it. The fitness area on the ground floor seemed closed. There weren’t room amenities like a kettle, but you could get coffee at reception. Water cost €2 there; a nearby Intermarche supermarket was about a 3-minute walk and sold 1L for €0.77. The area didn’t feel very safe at night, but otherwise my six-night stay was good.

Even after asking in advance for early check-in, I still had to wait a couple of hours for my room. It wasn’t cleaned properly, and basic things like a dental kit weren’t provided. There was little useful information or help, the reception staff were rude and unprofessional, and breakfast was very disappointing. I’ve stayed at many Marriott hotels and usually had excellent experiences, so this was exceptionally poor for a Moxy Paris La Villette carrying the Marriott brand. At this price there are much better options nearby, and this stay fell far below Marriott standards. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The room air conditioner only blows air, it doesn’t actually cool. After a long trip, being told the units were broken with no apology or estimate of when things might improve was frustrating. I’m staying ten days, and I’ll edit this if hotel management and Marriott Bonvoy find a solution.

The place was clean and warm, and well located for the metro and trams. The bed was only a double, so it felt small. Breakfast didn’t seem worth the price, and there was no tea or coffee setup in the room. A small cup at reception cost €4, and it wasn’t very hot.
