Novotel Paris 17

The only real drawback was the shower on the 7th floor. It took five minutes for the water to get lukewarm, and without any label or explanation on the tap, I couldn’t tell if I’d set the temperature right. That wastes water, especially for a brand trying to become sustainable. Otherwise, this was a good standard Novotel, and good value for Paris. The rooms and facilities were nice and spacious, the bed was comfortable, breakfast was good, and staff were friendly and professional. It’s well placed for arriving by car or public transport. There’s no metro nearby, but bus line 94 goes straight to the city centre, and the tramway gets you around Paris. You’re close to the classy 17th district, with good restaurants and without the area feeling too touristy. Even beside the highway, the soundproof windows kept all noise out and let us sleep well.

We’d forgotten to ask for separate beds when we booked a room for three on a short business trip. Until a proper triple room with separate beds was available, the team kindly gave us another room for one night at no charge. It made a busy trip much more comfortable and gave us privacy and peace of mind. Abdullah deserves a special thank you. His professionalism and understanding turned a simple stay into a lasting reason to be loyal. We really appreciated the service and will always be glad to return to Novotel.

The breakfast was a real letdown. There wasn’t much choice, and the quality didn’t match what I’d expect from a hotel in this category. With that experience, I’d find it hard to recommend the place right now. The lady who checked me in was professional, kind, and welcoming. Still, for a 4-star hotel, my stay overall was disappointing and below what I’d expected.

This was three years ago, when we stayed with small children. On departure day I asked whether we could extend the stay for an extra fee. The receptionist said she’d check if all the rooms were booked, which surprised me since it was January and not peak season. After I reacted, she got so upset that she left us and the children in the waiting room for the whole day. Our flight wasn’t until 9:30 PM. Luckily the weather was beautiful, so we went out into the city. The hotel staff had also misplaced our room and assigned my parents’ room to my friends.
