Hôtel Raspail Montparnasse

This is a mid-range Paris hotel, so I don’t think it’s possible to find a perfect stay at this price. Still, the cleanliness and friendly staff made it feel like home. I often asked for drinking water refills and the staff were always helpful. They also offered welcome pastries and lemon peppermint water in the lobby, and both the lobby and its toilet were clean. UberEat deliveries could find the hotel easily. It’s close to two metro stations, making it convenient for reaching tourist attractions. Our room for three was a corner unit with a king bed and a sofa bed. The hotel had set up the sofa as another bed next to the toilet. The toilet was a good size, seemingly designed for three people. The room had clean wooden floors rather than carpet, a comfortable bed, a resting chair, a dressing chair, and a built in safe. We had two electrical trips, but the experienced receptionist quickly checked the DB box and restored the power when we called. One night the ventilation stopped working. Reception couldn’t fix it then, but took note and said a mechanic would check in the morning. By the time we woke, it was working again. The toilet heater, though, had power but wouldn’t heat.

The staff were kind and hospitable. After I left a few personal things behind at checkout, they contacted me to ask if I wanted to retrieve them. The location was handy too, a quick walk to metro stations and Luxembourg gardens, with some good eateries nearby. I enjoyed the stay. The rooms are modern and chic, very clean, and have classic Parisian windows that open. The rooms and elevator are small, though that’s common in European and Parisian buildings. A great base for exploring Paris.

I keep returning to this hotel in the lively Montparnasse area. It’s quiet, clean, and relaxing, and feels like home away from home. The staff are professional and friendly. Thank you.

The noise made this stay uncomfortable and left us short on sleep. Construction started at 8 AM every weekday, right beneath or beside our first-floor room. From what I could see, it may continue for several months. Anyone sensitive to noise should avoid this hotel. If you need peace and quiet, I strongly recommend staying elsewhere. It was unbearable. The room initially came as a pleasant surprise because it matched the photos, but after the first night we discovered the work going on. No one mentioned construction at check-in. When we asked to move to a higher floor, reception said no other rooms were available and that we’d hear it on every floor. They offered neither compensation nor earplugs.
