There’s a lot of history to learn about here, and walking around the top to take in the 360-degree city views was great. The views are brilliant, and it costs a fraction of a visit to the Eiffel Tower. It wasn’t crowded, and it’s a real must-see. There are a lot of steps, so be warned, though there’s no need to rush. Amazing, loved it.
I didn’t climb to the top, but standing by the Arc de Triomphe and taking in the monument was memorable. After seeing it in so many photos, being there felt surreal, and it’s even more beautiful in person. If you want to visit the observation deck, buying a ticket ahead of time should save you time and waiting.
The rooftop terrace was the highlight for me. Climbing all 284 steps is worth it for the sweeping 360-degree view, with twelve tree-lined avenues stretching out like a star and the Eiffel Tower rising above the grey rooftops. It’s a fantastic spot for photos. Up close, the scale and stonework are breathtaking. François Rude’s *La Marseillaise* is especially striking, and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier under the vault adds a moving, solemn moment. The Arc de Triomphe stands proudly in Place Charles de Gaulle, with a grandeur that makes its history feel present. Go early to avoid crowds or climb at twilight to see the Champs-Élysées light up. Between the history and the views, it captures the heart of Paris.
The view from the top is spectacular, and climbing the stairs was well worth it. I visited at sunset, which made for a beautiful experience and great photos. Check the sunset time beforehand and get there at least 45 minutes early, so you have time for security and the climb without missing the moment. Such an amazing experience.
I’d lived in Paris as a child but had never gone up the Arc de Triomphe, so I took my kids there on their first trip to the city. We booked ahead and barely had to wait to get in. The climb is a spiral staircase, and the views from the top are gorgeous. We went on our first full day, which helped the kids get a feel for the city. We all loved it. Highly recommend.
