Hotel Vic Eiffel

We stayed three nights and found the staff incredibly friendly and helpful. There are lots of places to eat, supermarkets, and boulangeries nearby, and the metro is right outside. We didn't hear the street noise. The room was compact, though fine for three nights. I would've struggled if we'd stayed longer, which is why I'm giving four stars.

We left early and went home because the conditions were unacceptable, especially with a baby. We'd booked three nights. The room was cold, with cold air coming through the window. Reception kept saying, “we can’t do anything.” We only got a blanket after complaining several times. The confirmed baby bed had no mattress, just a thin cover over a plastic frame, and there was no blanket or pillow. When we raised it, staff repeatedly said there was nothing they could do. The room hadn't been properly cleaned. The toilet was dirty, there was hair on the floor, and it looked as though only the bed had been made. Breakfast was terrible: very little choice, food that wasn't fresh, and nothing suitable for a family with a baby. Staff showed no willingness to help and didn't take our concerns seriously. I absolutely wouldn't recommend this place, especially to families with children.

I didn't stay at this hotel, but earlier today my eight-month-old needed an urgent nappy change while we were returning from the Eiffel tower. I ran in, and a lovely staff member, whose name I forgot to ask, let me use the facilities and sit down while I waited for the toilet.

The staff were great and very helpful, and the room was clean, well kept, quiet, and air conditioned, which matters when it's warm. It's a lovely little base for exploring Paris, with a tube station nearby and a local market on Thursdays. There's a great cafe across the road called Basil, plus shops just a few yards away. On foot, it's about 2.3 km from the tower, river, catacombs, and other sights. I'd use it again if we return, and recommend it to a solo traveler or couple wanting to explore.
