Les Jardins de Coppelia

The hospitality was some of the best I’ve experienced in France, and the restaurant served an incredible breakfast with local produce and great service. It may be one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve had anywhere. Our room was great too, with cloud-soft beds and views across the lush countryside. My uncle had visited before, and his photos made the hotel look inviting. The real place lived up to them: lovely hotel in a scenic setting. I’ve been home since yesterday and already started missing it.

I spent hours trying to resolve the charge, while the hotel and Booking.com pointed fingers at each other and refused to honor the policy they had put in writing. The hotel said Booking.com was responsible; Booking.com said the hotel was applying the penalty. I was charged €1,997, and neither took accountability. It was dishonest and deeply frustrating. The hotel may be charming, but I’d never stay there and strongly suggest others book elsewhere. The Booking.com listing clearly stated, “Free cancellation until 3 days before arrival.” Check-in was at 3:00pm on July 19. I canceled at 9:00am on July 16, exactly three days beforehand, which was 80 hours before arrival and within the cancellation window.

The restaurant, Le capuchine, was closed on its two days off, which was a shame. The brasserie food was mediocre. Still, the hotel had a wonderful view and a beautiful historic building, with thoughtfully designed, comfortable rooms. The staff went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. The pool and spa were refreshing and welcoming. Luxurious and lovely, with a lot to offer. Thanks, Pakal y Antuan.

Breakfast was delicious, and they serve their own honey from hives in the garden. We stayed three nights at this beautiful old hunting lodge. The building is gorgeous, the staff friendly and welcoming, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.
