La Petite Maison de Jane

We were warmly welcomed, and could park the car in the garden behind the fence. The garden is beautifully arranged, and there’s a private terrace too. We were sorry the weather wasn’t better so we could enjoy them more. Breakfast arrived at the agreed time each morning: milk, fresh orange juice, baguettes, cheese spread, butter, three kinds of jam, croissants, pastries, and a piece of fruit. Coffee and tea are available to make in the house. When we accidentally broke a glass on the first evening, we admitted it the next morning and got a cheerful “Shards bring luck.” I’ll remember this place for my next trip to the champagne region. We stayed three days and two nights. The house suited three people well, with a bedroom for two and a bed in the living room for the third. It’s in the station area, but quiet and within walking distance of central Reims. A couple of minor things to bear in mind: the stairs from the ground-floor bedroom and bathroom up to the kitchen and living room are quite steep, which is a challenge if the third person needs the toilet at night. There’s only a curtain between the bedroom and bathroom downstairs. I was with my parents, so that mattered less, and the others can sit upstairs while someone uses the bathroom. The toilet is in the bathroom and has a door.
