Camping la Sousta

Our pitch was spacious, shady and peaceful, and the facilities were clean and well organised. We could get freshly baked bread throughout the day, and there was good live music on two evenings. The location was ideal, just a five-minute walk from Pont du Gard. We hired canoes nearby, kayaked down the river, swam in the clear water, then returned at 22h30 for the lovely son et lumiere. We camp often, and this was one of the best sites we’ve stayed at. We’d love to come back.

We liked the site so much that we booked another three days for the following week. Our shady pitch was just right in 30 degree heat, with a spot to hang our hammock. There’s river access on site, and Pont du Gard is only 800m away. One side of the river is shallow for a cool dip and good for families, while the opposite bank is deep enough for kayaking. The showers were hot, and there was 6 amp electric. The reception couldn’t have been friendlier or more helpful. We paid €21.50 a night with ACSI and tourist tax.

This will be our eighth year coming back. The location, bar and restaurant are just right, and the staff are warm and friendly. It’s great for families, with excellent kids clubs and well-run evening entertainment that we really enjoy. We love this campsite and couldn’t ask for more. See you next year.

The staff were friendly and supportive, but we cut our stay short at two nights instead of the planned four, mainly because the facilities were dated and in poor shape. The toilets need updating and compare badly with other sites nearby at a similar price. Wet floors and dust made them especially dirty. The campsite is well placed for Pint Du Gard, but the ground is very dusty, so expect dust inside everything. That may be hard for the site to avoid, though other places have added shingle to their pitches to reduce it.
