Le Relais de La Malmaison, a member of Radisson Individuals

The hotel has potential as a new Radisson, though there is a big gap in quality compared with what I expect from the brand. The spa area at this “spa hotel” was closed, with no notice on the website. My room had two beds pushed together instead of one king bed, and I kept falling into the gap between the mattresses. Service was disappointing too. My request for ice went unanswered, and housekeeping knocked in the morning even though I had a later checkout. I raised these issues with management, but nothing changed beyond verbal apologies. The stay was acceptable, just below the standard I expected.

The breakfast was supposed to run from 7 to 11, but when we came down at 10, we were told it was closed, and the reply was rude. Service was very slow when we arrived, and the restaurant food was very bad. The people weren't polite either. This hotel was horrible, I don't recommend it at all. Stay away.

The staff were incredibly pleasant and helpful. They tried their best to sort out my shower and were great with anything else I needed. I'd stay again, though I'd want to make sure I had a room with a properly working shower. The location is nice and peaceful, in a pleasant neighbourhood. It's a bit of a walk from the nearest RER station, which could be inconvenient unless you're driving. Rueil-Malmaison centre is about a 15-minute walk away, with shops, restaurants, cafes, excellent boulangeries, and other food vendors. The hotel restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but closes on Sunday night. I only ate breakfast there, which was basic but seemed high quality, and had a divine chocolate cake. The facilities were a real letdown. My shower was cold, and the temperature knob didn't work. Maintenance came, but could only set it to one temperature. The shower head was awkwardly placed over the bath, making showers unpleasant. None of that was fixed during my stay. Moving rooms was offered, but I'd already unpacked and didn't want to switch. The health suite was basically out of service. On my check-in day, only the steam room worked; the next day, the steam room, sauna, and pool were all down. I was really looking forward to using the spa, so that was incredibly disappointing.

The hotel has free parking and a good location beside the Seine, close to the city centre. Breakfast was good, but the internet had connection problems and parts of the hotel were under construction.
