Hotel Saint Aubin

We booked on a whim after a long drive across Europe, hoping to be closer to the Cherbourg ferry port, and had an exceptionally pleasant night. Our corner room, described to us as the best one, had a large balcony facing the beach, a line of flags, and a memorial to the servicemen who died there. History is everywhere, but the town doesn’t feel sad, just a little solemn. The room and bathroom were spacious, very clean, and nicely furnished. The coffee machine was a welcome bonus. The staff were kind and helpful, and we later found out one of them had attended a language school in our small Irish town. Small world. Several languages are spoken, so it’s easy to communicate. We had reserved parking beside the building, and there’s also a larger lot right in front. We ate at the hotel restaurant and loved the dining room with its large windows. Highly recommended. We’d love to return for a short holiday.

I had a great vacation here. I recommend having dinner at the hotel.

We stayed for three days in the off season while touring the Normandy beaches. Since occupancy was low, they upgraded us to a balcony room with an ocean view at no extra cost. The manager was very pleasant, and we really enjoyed talking with him. As Americans who don’t speak or read French, we appreciated him taking the time to talk us through the restaurant menu. We’d love to stay here again.

The staff were so welcoming and made us feel like family. We had a wonderful three day stay, with a big seaside terrace off the room, a lovely buffet breakfast, and a wonderful dining room.
