Château Papounan

After the Médoc Marathon, this was exactly the right place to relax and recharge. The room was beautiful and very comfortable, breakfast was delicious every morning, and their dogs were the best. Jacques and Sylvaine made us feel completely at home, like old friends visiting rather than guests at a guesthouse. They connected us with a fantastic local artisan winemaker and arranged a tour, and their nearby restaurant suggestions were all spot on. We had an incredible stay at Château Papounon and would come back in a heartbeat.

The owners clearly put thought into every part of Chateau Papounan, from the gorgeous, carefully decorated rooms to the rest of the place. We got to tour the whole property, and would love to return, try another room, and spend more time in the area and with the owners. Their hospitality was heartwarming, and the chateau’s design and decor were beautiful. My room was comfortable as well as lovely. Breakfast was a real feast, and we left full and happy. You could tell how much effort went into preparing it. A memorable 5-star stay, and we’ll recommend it to friends and family!

We spent a wonderful week in the brand new gîte at Château Papounan. Stéphanie and Jean-Luc were lovely hosts and made us feel right at home. The gîte was tastefully decorated and had everything we needed. The location was perfect, among the Médoc vineyards and only a 40-minute drive from the beach. Stéphanie can make dinners on request, and I highly recommend them. The French food was delicious and varied. We had an amazing time!

Breakfast in the garden was lovely, and our room was neat with all the amenities provided. Sylvaine and Jacques gave us a very warm welcome and made a great base for our time in the region. I hope to stay with them again.
