Hôtel Le Blainon

The hotel has a “locale a skis” where you can store your gear, and our stay included a very good breakfast with scrambled eggs and bacon. The rooms were adequate for a ski trip. It’s right on Auron’s main square, with the télécabine just a stone’s throw away, along with the ice rink, restaurants and bars. Pretty good for Auron, and certainly better than almost anything available in Isola 2000. Worth a visit.

The family room was very small, with barely enough space to move around, and the stay felt basic for the price. The location is great, though, and there’s a nice cafe restaurant downstairs. On weekends you can hear music from the bar.

I’ve travelled to more than 70 countries and had countless trips, and this was the worst host I’ve ever encountered. I injured my leg on the morning I was due to arrive, so I asked my assistant to cancel. The host gave her a nasty “no.” I respected the cancellation policy and drove there anyway, hoping I’d feel better the next day. I woke up still in pain, decided not to ski and planned to go home. Before checking out, I went to breakfast. As the host made my coffee, he muttered, “So your assistant is a lier...” I asked what he’d said, and he repeated that she was a lier and had lied about my leg. I checked out right after breakfast. I’ve never met a host like him. The other reviews about his attitude are a gross understatement. There were other problems too. The curtains wouldn’t close, so bright lights shone in my eyes at night. Music was blasting just outside, and even noise-cancelling AirPods didn’t help. Ten minutes before breakfast started, the host wouldn’t open the door to the breakfast area for me, although people coming in from the street entered at that same minute. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. Hosts like this shouldn’t work with people, let alone manage hotels.

Clean place, nice staff. Would stay again.
