Ibis Styles Rouen Parc Expo Zenith

The air conditioning ruined what could have been a pleasant stay. We avoid hotels without AC, and the Ibis Styles clearly advertised it, but when we visited on 24 May 2025 the split system was centrally set to heat only. The rooms were easily 25C, too warm for us to sleep. Leaving the window open didn't feel sensible on the ground floor, especially as our children were in a room by themselves. We drive this route from the Eurotunnel to our holiday home in the Vendee a few times a year, usually staying at the nearby Novotel because we have a Tesla and it has chargers. This time we tried the Ibis Styles. The rooms are small, but the family deal for two rooms was well priced, so that wasn't an issue. They looked recently refurbished for the money, and the shower room had fittings that looked new. Breakfast was included and acceptable, though there were no hot cooked choices. We usually find French hotel breakfasts poor value, and there aren't low-carb options here. The staff were friendly and helpful, and parking was free. Still, without working cooling, we had a very poor night's sleep.

Breakfast was plentiful and nice, and the service was very helpful. The room looked clean and was cleaned after my first night, but it felt cramped, with the toilet much too close to the neighbors' garden. The aircon did nothing, though I didn't report it and the temperature was manageable. It's a renovated motel, but still has a strong motel feel, with paint coming off the wall and rusty pipes on it.

The reception staff handled a problem with my booking really well. They were friendly, and the breakfast was nice, with real fresh orange juice instead of the fake concentrate kind.

Old, awful rooms with a mouldy, musty smell, peeling paint, and stained carpet. The AC/heater was loud and clunky, and there was so little soundproofing that it was very noisy. I bet the CEO of Ibis wouldn't stay here and would be embarrassed by this franchise. Take my advice and stay somewhere else!
