B&B HOTEL Rennes Nord Saint-Grégoire

Good value for a stop after a late ferry. The room was easy to locate and the entry code worked; it’s compact, but clean and comfortable, with everything needed in the bathroom. I’d use it again in the same situation.

Private parking is included, and the bed was comfortable. It feels more like a motel than a hotel, with small rooms. Breakfast was about £7, with unlimited coffee and croissants. A good value stay.

The breakfast was simple but did the job: tea, coffee, orange and mixed fruit juice, plus fresh, tasty croissants, pain au chocolate, and other bread and pastries. The kids loved the juices. For after-hours check-in, we only needed the numbers from our booking. Our room was clean and had what we needed for a good night’s sleep, so it worked well as a layover and was good value.

Breakfast had plenty of choice, and you could help yourself. If something was running low, the receptionist would bring more when asked. In the morning she greeted us with a lovely smile; that kind of welcome is so pleasant. The staff had also checked that we were all right the night before: after we used the outside automated check-in, the receptionist came up, asked our room number, pointed us in the right direction, and explained where breakfast would be served. A young man doing the rooms said hello in French, then someone helped again when we looked lost. We were well looked after. The children especially loved the mezzanine bedroom in the roof space, so get a top-floor room if you can. Nice location. We’ll make a point of coming back.
