Camping Manex - Cabanes

The view of the Rhune mountain was magnificent, and the owner was kind and welcoming. We really appreciated that during our two-night stay. The campsite's up in the countryside, though, quite far from shops and other amenities, so the location wasn't very convenient. We were disappointed by the mobile home, which seemed old and run-down. The bedrooms were tiny, the mattresses uncomfortable, and the blankets looked old. Some basic things, including dishes and toilet paper, were missing. The listing called it a "2-bedroom chalet," but we weren't in a chalet. Its pictures showed a newer mobile home and a chalet, neither of which really matched what we got. There was no Wi-Fi, and cell service on site was very limited.

We'd camped here before, but this time we spent a superb night in the treehouse. The view was breathtaking, and we had no complaints about the accommodation. As Sylvain Tesson would say, "Manex is a luxury of the modern world."

The views are lovely, and the campsite is simple and peaceful in the mountains. It's nice in good weather, but gets very damp when it rains. Facilities are basic and outdated, though the prices are very reasonable. The access roads are extremely narrow.

Everything was great, and the chef is super friendly. We'd highly recommend it for a calm, family-friendly atmosphere.
