This was a truly disappointing stay. How does this place get 4 stars? The room was poorly cleaned: dirty floors, cobwebs everywhere, and mold spots over the kitchen cabinets. The outdoor patio was in bad shape too, with a broken parasol and a loose divider. The shower head had a water-saving nozzle that barely let any water through. I had to take the head off and use the hose just to rinse properly. We had to collect our own bed linen and towels from reception, carry them to the room, and make the beds ourselves. On departure day, we had to haul the dirty linen and towels back to reception. Making your own bed might be one thing, but the linen should at least be in the room. For a multi-day stay, they supplied just one toilet paper roll and no extra, telling us to go buy one. A daily cleaning charge of EUR 15 per dog also seems like a scam when they only clean once, after departure. There was no starter pack with a sponge, dish towel, dishwasher soap, or similar basics, which I've always been offered at comparable places in France. They also sold stale bread on Sunday morning as freshly baked. Be warned.

When we brought up the problems, the staff replied, “it's not an hotel you know”. Shameful. The fitness room wasn't open at the advertised times, and we had to buy washing-up supplies because they forgot to give us the “welcome pack”. You'll also need to bring your own shower gel. For a five-night stay, they provided only one roll of toilet paper. This may be the only four-star residence in France that thinks that's enough.

The location wasn't very good. You need a car to stay here, and there aren't any cafes, pubs, or even restaurants nearby. Breakfast isn't included either. The receptionist insisted on communicating only in French and was very rude to my 70-year-old father and uncle. Her manners with my family were terrible.

The location is poor, and you can only get around by car. The service was terrible: there was one toilet paper roll for three people for the whole stay, and they didn't change the towels or bed sheets or provide shampoo or soap. Those are hostel-level basics. Breakfast isn't offered. The staff were very rude to my 70-year-old father and uncle, and they don't speak any language except French. Avoid this place at any cost. It's not worth the stay.

It's a peaceful place where we slept really well, and the Odalys team were very nice. Sarlat is only a 5-minute drive away, and it's well placed for visiting most of the Perigord Noir sights. We had an amazing stay and will definitely come back. I highly recommend it.
