Huttopia Saumur

The pool and bar were good, though the water was cold and food choices were just pizza or ice lollies. There are lovely views from the right pitch, and the site itself is beautiful. Saumur is reachable by bike, but the ride back is very steep. There's nowhere nearby to walk to, so it would be more convenient to explore on foot if there were more around, and a good shop on site would help.

We had a really nice time here, with a lovely forest setting and a good atmosphere around the bar and staff. The pool was cold, and the public areas don't have that amazing Loire view. Our lodge also had a bit of damage in places.

I slipped on the very slippery wooden pool deck and broke my wrist. I told reception, and the response was, 'yes it is slippery'; there were no warning signs, and the receptionist wasn't helpful. The pool itself was nice, but the shower and toilet block wasn't a pleasant place to get clean. It smelled of dirty drains, was covered in cobwebs, and wasn't cleaned. Freshwater drains were blocked with leaves and overflowing, and the site was dirty and dusty. This was our fourth campsite in the Loire Valley, and I wouldn't recommend it. I'll never stay at another Huttopia site.

It's a beautiful, well-located campsite, and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The other campers were polite too. My concern is the shared men's and women's toilets, which I find inappropriate for hygiene reasons. They were often not clean. Please change that and I'd give the place five stars.
