Camping de Strasbourg

The campsite was spotless and well looked after, with friendly, welcoming staff. We enjoyed a morning coffee and croissant. There are clean showers, private hygiene cabins and laundry facilities, so we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

The location is great, with Strasbourg a 10-minute bus or tram ride away, or reachable on foot or by bike. The bus stop is right outside, and the tram station is a 10-minute walk. Reception were friendly and helpful. They called ahead when we were delayed, offered suggestions for things to do and made sure we knew we could ask them questions. We stayed two nights in November. The price and the pitches and washroom facilities are where the site falls short. Our pitch was muddy and boggy, which made it hard to keep mud out of the van with our dog. Some other pitches had better hard standing, so it seems a bit hit and miss. The toilet and shower blocks were warm, but didn't feel recently cleaned. Over our three days of showering, the same empty shower gel bottle stayed in one cubicle. There was shaving debris and something from someone's nose on the walls. The site should focus on cleaning those facilities. We enjoyed our visit and would consider coming back.

We felt safe walking in and out, and it was about a 25-minute walk to Petite France along a cycle path and walkway, then through a small neighborhood. The site is ideal for visiting Strasbourg, with good-sized pitches and good facilities. There's a lovely on-site restaurant serving nice pizza. The staff were very helpful and welcoming to dogs. There are train tracks nearby, but they weren't a major disturbance.

The facilities were clean and nice. But if you stay just one night in a campervan, you may be placed right beside a very busy railway. Trains pass about 20 meters away, so it felt like sleeping at a train station.
