Hotel D Strasbourg

We were welcomed in the room with champagne and cookies, and the hotel is clean, centrally placed for exploring on foot, with helpful cleaning and breakfast staff. The front desk's parking instructions weren't adequate and caused us trouble on the first night. The small, narrow breakfast room gets crowded at times. It has local products, but the moderate breakfast was the same all four days. The croissants were always cold, and when the jam or chutney ran out, they didn't bring more. Empty breakfast shelves aren't sustainability. We paid more than the products and service were worth. I hope the hotel is better next time I visit.

The breakfast room is small when the hotel is busy, and the food was disappointing. The scrambled eggs seemed like reheated egg mixture and were inedible. Even the croissants were poor, which is unusual in France, and the coffee tasted stale and unpleasant, so we switched to tea. We also got no goodwill gesture for the maintenance problems we reported, not even a discount or a bottle of water. We'd booked an Executive Suite, but the elevator didn't reach the top floor, so carrying our luggage up the final flight was unexpected and inconvenient. The room looked nice at first, but the bathtub took almost 30 minutes to fill because the water pressure was extremely low. The handheld shower head didn't work, and one of the two sinks leaked into the drawer underneath and onto the floor. We reported all of this to the front desk. The stay fell far short of what we'd expected from a hotel at this level.

The parking is spacious and right beside the hotel, a big plus. Everything is small, but very clean and modern. The employees were lovely and ready to help, from reception to the cleaning ladies. Congratulations, it can't be easy to keep the team motivated.

The staff provided consistently exceptional service. Our room was comfortable and well appointed, and breakfast was good. We'd stay again. Merci!
