Hotel Diana Dauphine

The staff were outstanding, from reception and breakfast to housekeeping, and the location is excellent, a short walk from Strasbourg’s historic centre and within reasonable reach of the European Institutions. Our room was very comfortable, though the frequent trams on the main street outside made it a little noisy. The garage can be tricky with a larger vehicle, and breakfast can feel crowded when the hotel is busy.

The room toilets are extremely narrow, I could barely fit, and guests should be told about this or the layout should be changed. Breakfast was nice and filling, though a little more variety, including more egg options, would help. There were almost no vegetables, just a few cucumber slices. The location worked really well for visiting the Christmas markets and getting around the city. The hotel is clean, modern, elegant, and well maintained. Service was good, and although parking is narrow, we parked easily without trouble. A great boutique hotel, recommended.

The hotel is just off the island, so taxis can reach it, and the room was quiet in the evenings. It was also convenient for the coach station, where we caught our day trip to Colmar and other markets. The Christmas markets and Cathedral are only about a 5-minute walk away. Everyone on staff was friendly and attentive, and the room was nice, though it could use more plugs. At breakfast, two slices of bread at a time is all the toaster handles, and it’s slow, so we took ours out early while others were waiting. It would help to say clearly whether tap water is drinkable, since the fridge water costs extra. Molly Malone nearby is a great pub with very reasonable prices, which helps make up for the lack of a hotel bar.

The parking garage entrance takes care: you have to cross the opposite traffic lane, tram tracks, and sidewalk, while showing your hotel card to reception so they can open the gate. The spaces are very narrow, though with help from your co-driver there’s no real risk of damaging the car. The hotel explains all this in advance, and there’s another nearby parking option too. We had a good stay, which is why I’m giving four stars. The location is excellent, right in the city centre, and the rooms were clean. Breakfast was high quality, and the staff polite and helpful. For the price, though, we expected a few things that weren’t there: bathroom ventilation, outlets beside the bed, and a smart TV.
