The steak was excellent, and the food itself deserves five stars. The service and organization, though, deserve one. We waited 1 hour and 15 minutes for our grilled steak while people who arrived later were served much earlier. Around 30 minutes in, a different waiter came to confirm our order, so it seemed it hadn't been entered properly. At 1 hour and 10 minutes, I asked the waiter about it and was told the kitchen still hadn't sent the dish out. He apologized on the kitchen's behalf. With a restaurant that presents itself as high standard, the floor staff, kitchen, and management need to coordinate better. Communication with guests and operational discipline need attention. We still recommend the restaurant because the cooking has clear potential, and we'll come back. If we see measurable improvement, I'll gladly change this to five stars.

The traditional choucroute was cooked just right. We tried the classic and the house fish version, which was first created here. The old dining room adds a lot to the meal, with its preserved wooden interior and walls full of photos of famous guests. Service was friendly and efficient. Book ahead, and you'll get a taste of authentic Alsace food in a beautiful historic Strasbourg setting.

We arrived around 6pm and got a table straight away on the second floor. The sauerkraut with three kinds of fish was excellent, and the wine suggestion was lovely too. We could enjoy dinner and conversation without being hurried, in a classic historic setting serving traditional Alsatian dishes.

Dinner was really enjoyable. The food was good and the portions were generous, and our waiter was lovely and efficient. The old interior gave the place a magical feel.

The white Spartans onion tart was beautiful. Portions were huge, though that seems typical for Alsace, and the cooking was very traditional, rich and heavy. The building is lovely and historic, while the service has a rather stiff, old-fashioned style.
