Odalys City Apartment Hotel - Strasbourg Centre Les Halles

The room was freezing, and it was still icy when we came back later, even with the air conditioning on. The bathroom thermostat read 13°C, and the floor was wet from cleaning. Reception offered no help. We got the keys at 3:15 PM, but the bed wasn't made and the towels were on the floor. Nobody could say when the room would be ready; it finally was at 4:46 PM. Breakfast staff were rude and said we had a different time slot. The central heating, dishwasher, and shower head also weren't working. Reception staff seemed incompetent and kept passing responsibility to colleagues. Is this really a 4-star hotel, as the sign says?

Everything was walkable, between the mainstation and the old city, and the crew were friendly. The rooms were clean and good, and it's a nice place to stay while visiting Strasbourg. The only minus was the little bathtub. If there's a bathtub, an adult should be able to lie in it. There wasn't enough room for my shoulders, and I'm not a muscle-guy. Still, we'll stay here again when we come back to Strasbourg.

After a long day of travel, we had to sleep without a warm shower. The shower wasn't working, and staff knew about it but kept taking reservations. The hotel was fully booked, so we couldn't switch rooms. It's so frustrating when all you expect is a warm shower and someone to sort out a problem. Worst place I've ever booked.

The location was close to the city center and supermarket, the studio had decent floor space, the cooking area had enough basic equipment, heating worked well, and the cleaning staff did a proper job every day. We stayed five days. We didn't try breakfast or the swimming pool, so I can't comment on those. The staff weren't helpful or friendly. They ignored reasonable requests, rarely smiled, and didn't even greet us at checkout during Christmas. Check-in also wasn't flexible at all; we couldn't get into the room one minute early, which we've never experienced at other hotels. The sloped roof kept catching us on the head, and our room next to the lift was as noisy as a train station. Paying the same as for other studios felt unfair. The furniture was very old: the chair wobbled, the bed was crumbling, the desk and table were small and had no drawers, and there was no safety box. The basin, toilet seat, and shower were poor quality and nowhere near 4-star standard. The pillows had lots of lumps. Staff said they were all the same and had no spare to replace them, so we used our clothes as pillows for four nights. From the second night, I had pimples on my arms and legs, with persistent itching and painful stings. We told reception right away. They said they'd checked but hadn't found anything. We had more bites on the third night. I don't know what caused them, and I can't say they were bugs because I didn't find any. But we showed the hotel photos of the bites, and they should have taken responsibility for insecticide treatment and understood the bugs' features to provide an effective response. Staff didn't seem to care. Based on my clinical and research knowledge, I don't believe the bite-like pimples appearing on different nights were allergies or another immune response. We slept in clothes and socks for the rest of the stay. The hotel shouldn't try to fool people.
