Au Grand Pré

After a long drive, the garden was a lovely place to unwind. There's room for the kids to play, including a table tennis table, and a meadow with a goat and a sheep beyond it. Sonja and Arnaud grow vegetables there too. We stayed in the family room with two double beds, and everything was clean and tidy. The house is close to the highway, which makes it a useful stop when passing through. Behind the shared living room, the garden is spacious and comfortable to sit in. If you ask, Sonja can make a generous charcuterie platter with salad from her own garden, cheese, and cold cuts. Breakfast was well catered for as well. We had a folding caravan and could leave it hitched to the car beside the house, behind a closed gate.

Sonia and her husband gave us such a warm welcome, they're incredibly kind. Our family room was just right for a night, with plenty to keep the children busy, from Playmobil and table football to ping pong, as well as the garden. We had delicious, generous charcuterie and cheese platters in the evening. My husband really enjoyed his craft beer. Breakfast was just as enjoyable, with homemade jams, and there was plenty of it.

We stayed two nights in the Solognote room in mid-May, while in Theillay for a family reunion. Sonia and Arnault were lovely hosts and looked after us so well. The room was spacious and had everything we needed, and both dinner and breakfast were excellent and generous. Thanks for a wonderful stay, we'd happily come back.

The garden was a lovely spot to sit, and the village is beautiful, near Vierzon. The shared room beside your private bedroom is cozy, with toys, a dining table, microwave, and seating. You share it with guests from the other bedroom, or, if available, you can book both rooms and have the whole cottage to yourselves. It's deservedly popular. The owners were so friendly, and Sonia speaks good English. When I arrived, there was a delicious plate of salad, cold cuts, and cheeses, plus bread from the bakery that she quickly fetched by bike. The bedroom is spacious, with its own bathroom. A little dated, but complete, clean, and tidy, and the bed was comfortable. The parking area is very small and the entrance narrow. That was fine with just a car, but if you're towing a trailer, check with them first to see if it'll fit. I was only there for one night, which was a shame. If I return, I'll definitely think of them. They're fantastic.
