The restaurant was a real find. We ate there both evenings, and a lovely Irish expat who lives in Thônes served us. The food was tip top. We’d planned to stay just one night on our way to southern France, but changed our plans and stayed a second. Reception was helpful and flexible, and our room was clean and comfortable. A few ants came in through the open balcony door. The market gets noisy in the morning, though being right in the middle of this lively Alpine village adds to the charm. We’d happily stay again.

We enjoyed the restaurant’s modern, lovely decor and the young, lively staff. Our evening meal was well cooked and presented, though the entrées were more than we could manage, so we had no room for dessert. The mains were fresh and tasty. I didn’t expect to find lees at the bottom of a fine Gaillac wine! The hotel room was nicely decorated, but the sink had no plug and the shower head was loose and drooping.

We came back an hour later, once the kitchen was open, only to be told by the waitress that the place was full. It plainly wasn’t. At 6 p.m. we’d been told we were too early for dinner. The arrogance was unbelievable. Please don’t go there. They don’t deserve it, and they have no idea what real hospitality is.

Professional service and a great atmosphere, with traditional French food and wine by the carafe. The menus are consistently delicious and very good value, especially at lunchtime. Best place to eat in Thones!

The beds were really comfortable, and the location was excellent. Clean rooms and friendly staff, too.
