This feels like a complete sham. I booked through booking.com with free cancellation, but after I had to cancel, neither they nor the property returned the deposit. In my opinion, both are thieves. I won’t use booking.com or this property again.

The first impression was pleasant enough, and Valerie, the owner, was welcoming. It’s an old renovated building, but the two entrance doors have old locks that gave us trouble every time we had to open or lock them. The worst part was coming back and going upstairs to put some bags in the room before heading out again. I’d closed the doors but hadn’t locked them. The male owner came down shortly after and started shouting at me, wouldn’t listen, ran around, and slammed the doors loudly. As a frequent traveller, I’ve never had anyone treat me like that. It was a nightmare. We paid 596 Euro for five nights, which I think is far too much. We left a day early because we didn’t want to stay there any longer, and paid half the rate for the last night. Breakfast was poor for that price: each person got two pieces of cheese, one yogurt, some jam and butter, a third of a glass of orange juice, bread, and a croissant. The portions were strictly limited. Budget hotels in Thonon-les-Bains offer much better breakfast food and more of it, in my experience. I was asked to pay in cash because they said they didn’t have a terminal yet, so I did. They promised a receipt for my company by checkout or the day before, but never gave it to me. They said they’d email it, but didn’t. I sent a reminder and still got nothing. Maybe they don’t want to pay taxes. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone.

The hosts made our first night on the motorcycle tour feel special. They greeted us so warmly, then served a lovely breakfast in the garden the next morning. The house has loads of charm, and our cozy, nicely decorated room felt like home. We couldn’t have asked for a better start. Thanks so much!

We lost €166 over a one-night booking for two after a work problem delayed us by more than four hours. I called that afternoon, couldn’t get through, and left a message saying we’d arrive around midnight. Later, when I called again on the way home, the owner refused every possible solution: hiding the keys outside, changing to another date, or reducing the price. They were cold and unpleasant, and seemed pleased with how things had turned out. They just repeated the “general terms and conditions” as though this were a government office, not a private guest situation. The call ended with them hanging up after saying, “Good luck, you won’t find anywhere to sleep.”
