Gîte l'Hermine

A lovely surprise if you’re after the feel of a genuine small French town.

For several months I rented a studio apartment owned by this company, next to the gîte. The landlord was intrusive, dishonest, and unfriendly, unlike anyone I’ve dealt with before. She was unpleasant, and several weeks after the move-out inspection, she lied in order to keep part of the security deposit she was supposed to return. The inspection had been done with the agency she had hired to manage the rental. She also criticized how I used the property, even though she had not repaired items that weren’t working at the move-in inspection. While I was away, she left doors and windows open. Judging from the comments on this page, I’m not the first person to have this experience with Ms. Siegfried, and I doubt I’ll be the last. It’s a shame I can’t give zero stars. If you rent out a property, you shouldn’t treat tenants with disrespect. There are plenty of guesthouses nearby that deserve your time and money much more than these people. Avoid at all costs.

We had a wonderful stay in an idyllic, peaceful setting. The owners were very kind, and we enjoyed chatting over very good breakfasts. As animal lovers, we were delighted by their little dogs 😊. We booked through a Smartbox. The woman called to say there’d be an extra charge for the gourmet basket because the gift box didn’t make her enough money. I explained that I’d paid for a package that included dinner for two, described as a gourmet basket, one night in a double room, and two breakfasts. When I wouldn’t pay more, she became much less friendly. She said that if I was worried about 20 euros, I should arrange to cancel, then hung up.
