The first impression wasn’t great: the hotel looked a bit worn, with a peeling door and the like. But our room was clean and perfectly fine, with a comfortable bed and a good shower. The young man at reception made us feel welcome and cheerfully brought us drinks. Dinner was the real treat, generous portions and excellent food. I had fish with a wonderful lobster sauce. It wasn’t expensive, either. We were glad we stayed.

We were a group of eight, and the dinner service was a mess. The last two plates took a while to come out, and the server gave mine to a man at another table who’d ordered the same dish. I waited another 20 minutes for my food, by which time everyone else had finished. Service in the restaurant was poor, and reception didn’t handle customers well either. Not a good place.

Housekeeping was shameful. The bed I was given had clearly been slept in already, which was disgusting. At least dinner in the restaurant was good, and the staff there were nice. Not worth even one star.

The wines were a disappointment for this area. The food was cooked well, though the menu was limited. Otherwise, it’s what you’d expect from a Campanile hotel.

The people and place were perfect. I just got unlucky with motorcycles making noise until two o’clock. Apart from that, perfect.
