We didn't stay at Maison d'Anvers, though it has a range of accommodation, but the owner where we were staying recommended lunch there. Four of us and a baby went in June, and Sigi gave us a friendly welcome and explained the day's options. The small menu changes daily and was really interesting. We had mussels or tomato and burrata salad, then tender steaks cooked perfectly or shark steaks, which were a first for us, and all delicious. Fresh fruit and lemon tart finished the meal. We ate in the courtyard under an olive tree, in the dappled shade. Sigi was a wonderful host. Our daughter, her husband and baby went back the next week and enjoyed their meal just as much. When the baby woke as the food arrived, Sigi pushed the pram so they could eat.

The people were friendly, the place was great, and the food was really good. The owner speaks very good English and German, though I couldn't try any other languages with him, and his wife speaks good English too. If you go, try the shrimp with curry sauce. I hope we get to return one day.

Ziggy's cooking is exactly what you want for a relaxing holiday with good food, and the rooms are spacious, clean and air conditioned. Ziggy & Vanessa are lovely hosts who always go the extra mile. Maison & Gite sits among the vineyards, within walking distance of Valreas. Arriving at Maison d’Anvers always feels like coming home. Once you've stayed at this gem, you start looking forward to coming back as soon as you leave. Would definitely recommend.
