La Fompatoise

A relaxing location, great for anyone looking to unwind, and it was wheelchair friendly. The staff were excellent and so friendly. Our room was clean and quiet at night, and breakfast was absolutely delicious. I'm a bit tall, though, and the room felt small. I bumped my head now and then; under 6 feet, you probably won't have that issue. For me it's a 9/10, and it'd be 10/10 if I were a little shorter.

Jerome and Laurence were such gracious hosts, and I had no complaints about my stay. The property is gorgeous and in a lovely spot. Breakfast was delicious, the bed was really comfortable, and I only wish I'd booked more time there.

We enjoyed the very good breakfast, which was better than what I'd expect at an average hotel. Dinner is offered every day except Thursday, and I'd definitely suggest trying it at least once. You share the meal with guests from the other rooms and the owners, and they make an excellent homemade French dinner, better than restaurant meals. We stayed for two nights in the White room at La Fonpatoise. It was comfortable and very spacious, with the bathroom included in the room. La fonpatoise is in a tiny village in the countryside, surrounded by beautiful fields and a little far from La Rochelle and Rochefort. There's a large garden, pool, ping pong table, pool table, and a TV shared with the other rooms. I think there are only four rooms in total. Call ahead to coordinate your arrival. We didn't, and had to wait a little to get inside.

That table d'hôtes was the highlight for us, a festival of flavors from start to finish. The fresh local ingredients were beautifully cooked and presented with care, and every dish was a lovely surprise for both the eyes and palate. You can tell there's a real love of good food and sharing it. We came with friends from Marseille and found La Fompatoise to be a real gem. It's a charming B&B with a peaceful setting, a characterful house, and a well-kept garden. Everything feels geared toward guests' comfort and well-being, and the warm welcome made us feel at home right away. Our room was spacious, tastefully decorated, and comfortable. A lovely place to recharge, enjoy the setting, and share a generous, convivial meal. Huge thanks to Jérôme and Laurence for an unforgettable stay. We'll definitely be back!
