Hotel La Flore

The breakfast was poor for €15, often ran out, and the person looking after it seemed overwhelmed. Staff were unhelpful, and parking cost extra. Our room was tiny, smelly, and uncomfortable, with no view. The bed was hard, the hair dryer was broken, and there was no lift for the lower-floor rooms. Disappointing, and not worth the price.

We spent the afternoons unwinding by the pool in the lovely weather, and had an enjoyable, inexpensive room-service dinner one evening. Breakfast on the terrace was a treat too, with spectacular views. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and we could easily get to Nice and Monaco from this great location. After a busy week of travel, our three nights here in July felt like a real break. We loved reading on the balcony and would definitely recommend a sea-view room. We left relaxed and refreshed. I couldn’t fault the place and would love to return someday.

The pool was a lovely place to unwind, and the staff were great throughout our four nights. We had a late booking and got a top-floor room, where a Velux window looked out over the bay towards the lighthouse. I imagine lower rooms have an even better view, so I’d consider one if available. Breakfast on the terrace was good, with another lovely view. On a very wet evening, we had wine and a plate of meats and cheeses in the hotel. There isn’t a big room-service menu, but what we ordered was excellent. We could leave our luggage before check-in and after check-out, which let us enjoy our time in Villefranche. The marina and old town are each an easy ten-minute walk, and the bus stop nearby goes to Nice, Monaco, and places in between. Our Uber to and from Nice airport was just over €30 each way. It’s a great base for Villefranche, Beaulieu, St Jean Cap Ferrat, and the surrounding area. The coastal walk into Nice is great too, on a rocky but well-maintained path with plenty of steps. Our July trip was cancelled because of the strike, so we had to reschedule for September. Michèle and the team have gone above and beyond to help us with the change. I’ve been dealing with Michèle by email and can’t fault the help she’s offered. We really appreciate it and are looking forward to our stay.
