First Inn Hotel Les Ulis

We arrived at 3 am after our car broke down, and they still let us check in. Denis was especially helpful: he coordinated with the car service and worked through possible solutions with us. We've never met a more helpful hotel employee. We're very grateful for the support.

It's on an industrial estate, with a restaurant next door where reception can give you a discount voucher. The place is quiet enough for a good night's sleep once the nearby main road settles down, though you may need to sort out the window or AC. As a basic place to sleep, it does the job, but it's probably two or three stars at most. Don't expect carpets, and the loo door leaves your knees rather close. Breakfast is about 9 euros for very little choice, and the TV channels are all in French. There are lots of families, and we had a whole coach arrive too.

The staff were really friendly, and the room was clean in a good location. It was quite small, though, and the hard bed meant I didn't sleep well. For one night with little luggage, it's fine.

A handy stopover with clean rooms, comfortable beds and welcoming staff. Breakfast costs 10 euros, which feels steep for what you get: cereal, toast and yogurt.
