ibis Styles Bordeaux Sud

We’ve stayed at this Ibis Styles many times and always enjoyed the beautiful building. This visit felt like standards were slipping. The room didn’t seem clean and had a strong smell we couldn’t identify, possibly tobacco smoke or something used to cover it. The toilet creaked when we sat on it, and breakfast looked tired and untidy. The food had been left out too long.

There weren’t any vegan dishes on the menu, but the chef kindly made pasta and vegetables for me. They’re very welcoming to dogs.

The common areas were quite nice and quiet, and the service was friendly and convenient. The bed was comfortable too.

The hotel is conveniently located near a highway exit in Bordeaux, about halfway through our trip from the UK to Portugal. My family and I stayed for one night, booking two connected rooms for a good price. There are two EV charging points, which suited us since we drive an electric car. We arrived late, around 23:30, and check-in was straightforward. The concierge was very friendly, and the rooms and beds were clean and comfortable. The air conditioning couldn’t be used because the settings were pre-configured, so the rooms felt a bit warm and we opened a window for a while. There was no room fridge, which wasn’t ideal in the middle of a long drive. Breakfast had the basics, but was good rather than great. There was no lactose-free milk, though almond milk was available. The scrambled eggs were terrible and all the sausages were burnt. The pancakes were kept beside the eggs and sausages, so they were soggy and inedible. The bread was good, as expected in France, and the juices, coffee, pastries, cheese and ham were nice. There weren’t many fruit choices. We had a pleasant experience, though not a great one, and it was handy to leave with the car charged. The charging wasn’t free, but the price was good. This was our second stay and we’ll probably stay again.
