Chateau de Viviez

The grounds are so extensive that we enjoyed a relaxing walk in the evening, and we really didn’t want to leave the next day. Staying in a French chateau had been on my bucket list, and this grand experience lived up to it. Iliya was attentive and welcoming, and dinner in his dining room was cooked by him and his daughter Brit. A lovely September stay with my Chemin du Puy friends. Thank you, Iliya and Brit!

We’d definitely stay again. The family were delightful and so helpful, and breakfast with homemade preserves was yummy. It was beautifully quiet at night, apart from Mr Owl having a hoot or two, which we forgave. My husband found this place in a Google search for a stop on our way down to Andorra, and it fit the bill perfectly. It’s a lovely home, with so much care, love and money put into preserving the building. They’re planning to turn some rooms into a gite for up to 8, which sounds like a wonderful idea for a family gathering, especially since children would love the location.

The pool was lovely, and the two super friendly doggies kept us company as we explored the grounds. Such a beautiful, clean place, with a nice blend of history and modern life.

You leave feeling like you’ve made friends. Wim and Annet, who took over in March 2017, have lots of projects in mind for this marvelous place. Their son and daughter in law help out, and the whole family goes out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. It really feels like home.
