Novotel Grenoble Nord Voreppe

The fenced parking gave us peace of mind, and the location was excellent. We arrived late and had to wait for the gate to open, but that also made the car feel secure. There are some nice breakfast options nearby in Voreppe center. We’d return. We were pleased with the booking and value for money for an overnight stop at the Novotel on our way to the South of France, but the room wasn’t fully clean. There were cobwebs, a stuck sink stopper, and a strong smell of weed. We were too tired to complain, so we checked out quickly the next morning and continued our journey.

We had a good family room, secure parking, and a fantastic breakfast outside in the gardens beside the pool, with a view of the Alps. The value was great too, since kids stay free. There was someone at the desk all night, which we really appreciated when checking our family in close to midnight. A perfect stopover on our trip between Spain and Switzerland.

The check-in left a very bad first impression. The receptionist insisted that a deposit was required for possible breakfast or restaurant use, saying it was hotel policy, even after we refused. The manager showed little acknowledgement of how unpleasant the process was. Our complaint was brushed off with a guide and basic information while we were still trying to explain the situation. Staff didn’t listen, interrupted us, and dealt with us rudely and unprofessionally. Feedback clearly isn’t welcome. Hospitality and service felt far-fetched, so don’t expect a warm welcome. This Novotel should train its staff as soon as possible. I’ve included a picture showing the same issue explained in Dutch. It seems they don’t learn.

The hotel, food, and service were alright, and good value for money. But I was shocked to see staff empty a full gallon of chemical liquid labelled “toxic for the environment” into a pissoir. Easy maintenance, but very sad. Poor!
