The owners were so friendly and always smiling, and the hotel had all the comfort we wanted. We thought the meals were perfect and homemade, while breakfast had everything you could need. From the terrace, there’s a very nice view to enjoy with a good local draft beer. Exceptional value for money!

Room 1 is right by the entrance. Its small terrace looks over the overgrown slope toward the car park, with just a rather outdated bench. There’s a noticeable unpleasant smell as soon as you step inside, and the room clearly has damp and mold issues. The bathroom fan is weak, and cleanliness was mediocre. There were a few cobwebs, and the walls badly need renovating. The bed was quite narrow for two adults and sagged a lot in the middle. The kitchen is very basic: two hotplates, a coffee maker, kettle, and microwave. The utensils are sparse and worn, but enough for two people. There’s a decent-sized wardrobe, a large dining table that feels almost too big for the small room, and a rather small TV. From outside, the little property looks cozy, and it’s in a very quiet spot. The man at reception was friendly, as was the woman who cleaned the rooms. Unfortunately, nobody speaks German. Towels can be changed and the rooms cleaned every day. We didn’t have breakfast or use the sauna. Since this place is only rated two stars, I think four stars for value for money is fair.

It’s a peaceful place close to nature, and our whole group of nine rated it 5/5. The manager and staff were very attentive, and we got a warm welcome. Our bikes were stored safely and locked up, the rooms were clean and welcoming, and we could use the sauna. Dinner was good too. We’d especially recommend it to cyclists.

Getting there was a major hassle. Typing the address into the satnav doesn’t get you there, and Google Maps sends you along a dirt road. You need to direct it to the municipal swimming pool’s open parking lot and leave your car there. This felt more like a motel than a hotel, since you reach the rooms directly from the courtyard through a gallery. The interior has a bit of a communist-era feel, though it was clean. The apartment-style rooms have a kitchen with hotplates, a refrigerator, and a dining table. The restaurant is in a separate building. I didn’t get to try dinner, and breakfast was poor, even for Alsace. The coffee was awful, especially for this region.
