Hotel Restaurant Du Port

I'd been coming here for filets de perche for years, but hadn't been back in at least a decade. This time I ordered melon with prosciutto and fried filets with lemon sauce, and it was still excellent. We sat downstairs on the patio. It was sweltering in the sun for an hour, the only downside, but the sunset was beautiful, and it became a fantastic meal once the temperature cooled. The staff were friendly, funny and helpful.

The lake view is beautiful! The food's delicious too. The fish and chips is unusual and worth trying, and the steak with foie gras was delicious. We also tried the rabbit dish and the Baba desert.

Dinner here takes some planning since it gets busy, so we booked a month ahead. It’s right beside Yvoire’s main port, with a lovely harbor view, good food, and attentive service.

The owner’s response to our question about the fish was loud enough for nearby tables to hear: “If you don’t like it, go somewhere else, we have enough customers.” As she left, she told the staff in French, “Toujours les Américains, ils se plaignent pour tout,” apparently not knowing I understood because I’m half French. The whole dinner was unpleasant. The perch fillets seemed frozen, with a rubbery texture and little flavor, and our glasses were dirty. The table hadn’t been set properly either. There are plenty of better places in Yvoire, so I’d avoid this one.
