The place felt really run down, as if renovation work had begun but never been finished. The decor was awful, with patched-up spots instead of a proper paint job. The main entrance, which is for staff only, looked dire, with cracked windows. We had to use the back entrance beside a joiner’s business and a huge skip overflowing with rubbish, with more rubbish piled beside it. There was no cooked breakfast, only a continental one. I felt like I was walking into a run-down squat.

The security and noise were a real problem. The back entrance was left unlocked overnight, the bedroom doors felt flimsy, and we could hear every movement in the neighbouring rooms. I wouldn't stay here again. The hotel was hard to find, down a dark alley. There was only room for two or three cars, and the nearby streets had double yellow lines. There wasn't anywhere close to eat or get a drink. Inside, the place felt old and uncomfortable. The room was very basic and seemed clean, but the shower looked ancient. The towels were clean but extremely thin, and seemed very old. The toilet seat was loose and felt unsafe. The bed sat so low I struggled to sit on it, and the mattress was old and very soft. I didn't want to sleep on it, so I switched on the freestanding electric heater and slept on top of the bed. Breakfast was a basic continental spread. Stay away.

Hard to find, so keep an eye out. Otherwise it was all good. Great value for money as a cheap overnight stop before heading to the North Sea heliports. Just don't pick it for a romantic weekend with your missus.

The worst night's stay I've had. We booked two double rooms and were charged extra in cash when we arrived, because they counted each room as one adult instead of assuming two people per double. We were told to pay or leave straight away. They said it was in their policy, but when we asked what the policy actually was, they just kept asking for more money. The staff member was rude and rushed off to the room without waiting for us or saying anything. The doors looked as if they'd been kicked in, and even when supposedly locked, a couple of pushes opened them. We could hear the people next door talking and others walking around, despite the rooms being advertised as soundproof. The TV signal kept cutting out. The bed was uncomfortable, and the shower had very little space, with water swinging between scalding and freezing. Ventilation was poor, the room windows wouldn't open, and steam from the shower or hot tap just lingered. There were flies all over one of the building's windows. Breakfast was off-tasting Cheerios, toast, or a stale croissant if you got there before they were gone.

I'd never book this place again. The rooms weren't soundproof, the beds were uncomfortable, and the TV signal kept dropping. When we arrived for two double rooms, we were told there'd be an extra £30 because there were four of us. Who would expect a double room to be for just one person? Apparently, this place does. The doors didn't lock properly either, just a couple of pushes and they opened. And we saw lots of flies on a window.
