The bed seemed clean and comfortable, and they supplied clean towels. The staff member was friendly too. It did the job for one night, with the station less than five minutes away. It was the cheapest option for a Saturday in the area, though I still thought it was overpriced for what it was. It's a converted house, and the building could use a refurbishment. There were holes in the ceiling, and I left some clothes on the bed and came back to find one item damp, possibly from a leak. The bathroom needed a bin, and the door needed adjusting because it wouldn't shut by itself. Rooms aren't soundproof, so we could hear someone walking around and talking on the floor below. When another person used the bathroom and flipped a switch somewhere, light came into our room. The neighbouring house's garden was full of rubbish, which wasn't this place's fault, but it wasn't a nice view. We'd booked to pay by card, but the owner called on the day to say the machine wasn't working and asked for cash instead.

The room itself was lovely, clean and tidy, but the receptionist spoke to us rudely. After we'd paid, he warned that any damage would cost us £200. We arrived just before 9pm in heavy rain, so we didn't have much choice at that point. I won't be going back.

The only real plus was being just 20 minutes from ExCeL. I booked a month before coming to London, and after talking to other people staying there, I realised I'd paid too much: £170 for two nights, while they paid £50-£60 per night. There was a local con going on, and the room I got was horribly cramped, barely tall enough for my 6ft partner to stand upright, and incredibly hot. The window wouldn't stay open, so I had to wedge it open with a bottle for some air. The room was dirty, cracked all over and had broken drawers. There was one fan for all 11 rooms, and it was partly broken and didn't work. The bathroom was dirty and nothing like the pictures. The so-called garden was a dumping ground full of rubbish and trash, and the street and local area were just as unsightly. I regret booking here. It was the only available place nearby for the con, but I wish I'd stayed elsewhere and travelled a bit further. That probably would've been cheaper too.

I’m a budget traveller, and this was a really good place to rest during my trip. The room was cosy, the bed was comfortable, and they gave me a bigger room for the same price. I got more than I expected. If you’re after luxury, look elsewhere, but I was very happy with it.

The room layout could use some work, and the ceiling needs fixing. What bothered me most was the shower curtain, which was orange over half of it. I pointed it out to the person in charge, but they said it wasn’t dirty. It clearly was. If it wasn’t, why was it orange? Especially during a pandemic.
