Denmore Guest House

For one night on a budget, this is a very good option. The room has a bed, TV, mini fridge and even its own sink, which is pretty cool. I didn't have much to complain about otherwise, but I couldn't see myself staying for a week. The bathroom was poor, with no ventilation. It took me a few minutes of adjusting the hot and cold water to get the temperature right, and I ended up having a cold shower.

I picked this guest house because of its good reviews, so arriving to find a dirty cup and spoon was really disappointing. There were also three used beer bottles and a used plastic water bottle sitting on the mirror shelf in my room after I was given the key.

Andrea was a terrific host and gave us tips on where to go and what to see. She served a lovely traditional Scottish breakfast and even offered us a slice of haggis. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. We had a fantastic stay at Denmore Guest House and will definitely return.

The rooms were okay, but doors slamming meant I couldn't get much sleep. The shower was horrible: barely any water came through, and it was so cold that a freezer probably has more heat. The hotel needs updating. Nearly everything looks old, overused and dirty. I couldn't get hold of the owner, and it looks like they might be skint.
