DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Central

The room was spotlessly clean, and the woman at the club reception was super friendly. I found the pool area really clean too, though I wasn’t sure what was going on with the hot tub, which looked as if someone had put washing-up liquid in it. The changing rooms are tiny and there aren’t any cubicles. I came for the pool, but wish I’d stuck with CitizenM, where I’ve stayed for the last four years. The room itself had a rock-hard bed and a green security light that made it feel like sleeping with an airport landing light on. The blackout curtains didn’t help much with all the other light. I also ordered room service, and the food was good quality but arrived cold, which isn’t great for poached eggs. There was building work on Sauchiehall St near my room, so I asked to move. I know the work elsewhere wasn’t the hotel’s fault, but reception first said there were no rooms and I asked for a refund so I could go elsewhere. I declined an alternative on a lower floor, closer to the noise, then suddenly a quieter room became available. After going to an event, I returned for the new key and found I’d been given the room I’d already refused. I called again and was eventually moved to a quiet room on the other side of the hotel. I got the impression the receptionists thought it was funny to mess me about. With a bad leg, walking around the hotel with my luggage for no reason was the last thing I needed.

Alice at reception really made our stay, with her friendly, attentive service and great hospitality. The whole staff were wonderful and the lobby felt very welcoming. The location was perfect for seeing the city, and our room was clean and comfortable. A big thank you to Alice and everyone else for making everything go smoothly!

Liam Higgins went the extra mile when we checked in today for our two-night stay. Our party got an early check-in, welcome snacks, and rooms next to each other. The rooms were clean, warm, and welcoming, with pristine sheets on comfortable beds and good shower pressure. The pool and gym are great too. Shops and attractions are within walking distance, and the location is excellent. Very impressed so far, and I’d recommend it.

I was upgraded to an executive room for my three-night stay at Glasgow Doubletree Central, and couldn’t have been happier with it. Check-in was smooth and everything was clean. I was using the conference space to deliver a course, and found the staff friendly and dedicated. Gayle in the bar and restaurant was fantastic, and the atmosphere was relaxing and enjoyable.
